Work to resume at Wexford library
Monday 09/05/2011
Wexford Library may see work resume by this September. The
project is to be re-tendered this month, at the decision of the bondholder for
previous contractor McNamara Construction, which went in to receivership in
November 2010. The County manager said contract documents were being prepared
with a view to re-advertising for contractors. They may be appointed by August,
allowing work to continue, bringing the possibility of a spring 2012 opening.
This will be the third time in three years that the project has gone to tender.
As the county manager pointed out, the cost has dropped considerably since the
original tender in 2008 and resumption would give local contractors another
chance to secure the contract.
