Public Libraries Database

There are three methods of retrieving information from the database:

Simple Search

The Simple Search option allows the user to search by library and keyword. More comprehensive search options are available in the Advanced Search section. The Simple Search is located on the homepage and on all other pages to ensure the user has easy access to information. These methods have been designed to answer the most frequent queries we receive.

ToolDescription
LibraryA drop down menu allows the user to select the record for a particular library. In this search libraries are identified by the name of the town/city in which they are located.
KeywordThe keyword search allows the user to search all fields in the database using a keyword, e.g. Carnegie, central library.

Advanced Search

The Advanced Search option allows the user to simultaneously search a combination of fields. The user selects the search criteria from drop down menus, or by entering a keyword search term and then selecting the submit button. The search will run more efficiently when fewer search terms are entered.

Please note that when executing consecutive searches you must choose select from the drop down menu if you would like to cancel the criteria of your previous search.
